GATE 2025 Eligibility criteria

Before submitting an application, candidates should verify that they meet the eligibility criteria for GATE 2025. Those who are currently enrolled in the 3rd year or beyond of an undergraduate degree program or have completed a government-approved degree program in Engineering/Technology/Science/Architecture/Humanities are eligible to apply for GATE 2025.

List of Professional Societies/Institutions, which award degree in various fields of engineering are-

  2. 2. The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
  3. 3. The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE)
  4. 4. The Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI)
  5. 5. The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, including Polymer and Environmental Group (IIChE)
  6. 6. The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM)
  7. 7. The Indian Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIIE)

Candidates with certifications from professional societies should verify if these exams are recognized by MoE/AICTE/UGC/UPSC as equal to B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Planning, etc.

Candidates from countries other than India must be in the 3rd year or beyond or must have completed a Bachelor’s degree (of at least three years duration) in Engineering/Technology/Science/Architecture/Humanities.
